Good investing starts with good information. Ignore social media hype and go to the source.

Your Data Toolkit:

• Level 1 (Snapshot): Afx Kwayisi, Trading View and the FT are great for clean, simple price charts and company profiles. You can simply visit them and search for the company you want to dive into.
• Level 2 (Context): Reputable financial news sources like Nairametrics, Proshare, and BusinessDay. Use these to understand the story and analysis behind the numbers, but be aware of potential biases.
• Level 3 (Primary Source – Most Important):
  NGX Disclosure Portal: For all official announcements. This is non-negotiable.
  Company Annual & Quarterly Reports: This is your goldmine. Go to the “Investor Relations” section of a company’s website. Download the full PDF. This is where the real analysis happens. For example. Here’s for Dangote Cement and here’s for PZ.

Your simple Workflow: Price → News → Filing → Analysis.

1. When see a price move on a chart.
2. Find the news context on a financial news site.
3. Read the official filing on the NGX website to verify the facts.
4. Perform your own analysis. Open the annual report. How does this news affect the company’s long-term earnings power? Does it align with or contradict your investment thesis?

Try It:

Go to the Investor Relations page of a large bank like GTCO or Zenith. You can simply Google any company’s name + “investor’s relation” to pull up their reports. Download their most recent full Annual Report. Don’t read it all. Just skim the Chairman’s Statement and the CEO’s Operational Review. This will give you a much richer, high-level strategic overview than any news article can.
